Goldsboro-Robert Glenn “Rob” Hampton, 60, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at his home in Goldsboro. Born in Avis, Pennsylvania on August 12, 1960 to Florence Jean Helsel Hampton of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania and the late Robert L. Hampton.
Rob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a A-10, T-38, and F-15E fighter pilot. He retired after 22 years having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following his Air Force career, Rob worked as a A320/321 Captain with Jet Blue Airways for the last 17 years. Rob was a longtime member of the Mount Olive Airport community. He was a 33rd Degree Mason and member of Nashua Masonic Lodge.
Rob was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and also attended St. Mary Catholic Church in Goldsboro and St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Hampstead, New Hampshire.
A service to celebrate Rob’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Wellman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday at Seymour Funeral Home. Attendees are asked to wear a facial covering and practice social distancing measures.
In addition to his mother, Rob is survived by his wife of 38 years, Terry Hampton; children and their spouses, Henry and Sacha Hampton of Moxee, WA, Heath and Tavia Hampton of Bradenton, FL, Amanda and Dr. Stephen Balevic of Hillsborough, NC, and Katie Hampton and Christopher Bonner of Ayer, MA; grandchildren, Alexander Hampton, Isabelle Hampton, Hailey Quantrille, Chase Dorias, Taylor Hampton, Cody Weaver, David Robert Balevic, and Lillian Balevic; great-grandchildren, Emerie Quantrille and Karley Dorias; sister and brother-in-law, Amy Lynn and Kent Laubscher; two nieces, Ali and Lauren; several other extended family members; and his Yorkie, Drew “Drewie” Hampton.
