Karen Downing

Karen Downing, 60, of Lincoln-North Woodstock passed away on February 18, 2021 due to natural causes. She was born April 2, 1960 to parents Edward E Downing and Betty (Latuch) Downing in Plymouth, NH. She grew up in the Thornton, NH and lived her adult years in the Woodstock-Lincoln area. Karen graduated from Lin-Wood High School in 1979. She is survived by her children and their spouses William and Jennifer Fadden & Kristi and Scott Letson. Her grandchildren Mckenzie, Camryn, & Ellie. Karen’s siblings include Andrew Downing, Rebecca Downing Farnsworth, & Bertram Downing.  She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Betty Downing, and older brother, Edward J Downing.

Karen worked in the restaurant business most of her life. Her long-standing employers included Truants Tavern, Woodstock Inn and Station, American Legion. She enjoyed socializing with her customers, meeting new people, and sharing stories with everyone. 

Karen was always up for a good yard sale or craft fair. She loved to find hidden treasures and getting a good bargain!  She enjoyed making and fixing jewelry, taking pictures, being outdoors, and watching and attending sports events with family and friends. Her love for NASCAR and Boston Red Sox ran strong! She always remembered when she and her two children went to Fenway Park and watched the Boston Red Sox game from the Green Monster. Karen was incredibly social. She loved socializing and being part of the crowd! It was incredibly easy for her to strike up a conversation with everyone and anyone, which is why bartending and waitressing was something that came natural to her.

A walk-through visitation will be held on Sunday, February 28th at the American Legion in Lincoln, NH. The walk-through hours will be 1pm- 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Lincoln  American Legion Post,   183 Main Street, Lincoln, NH 03251.
