Christopher Kellar Portsmouth, New Hampshire Obituary

Christopher Kellar

Christopher Kellar 21 years old of Portsmouth NH & recently Saunderstown RI rode his last wave up to heaven on 2/20/21 after a birthday celebration with his sister & beloved girlfriend. He was born on February 16, 2000 as our millennium baby and was later adopted by the Kellar clan as they called themselves. Christopher was a spirited child from the day we were blessed to wrap him up in our arms. He was the first one to offer a helping hand. One afternoon he was outside working on a project around the house and before long he was swinging a pickaxe through the rocky soil. He was 8 years old. His love for animals was evident the day he met his Jake. It was love at first sight and that bond would never be broken. We are confident they are running through the fields at the old Stratham farm right now. Christopher was drawn to the ocean because the power of the sea was healing to his soul. This force led to a passion for surfing, paddle boarding, fishing and any other reason or activity to replenish his mind with more vitamin sea. The New England paddle family will miss seeing him up on the podium or at the finish line cheering on the top dogs! Christopher was always at center stage. He loved his High Mowing friends, the New Hampshire crew and his brother Jonny and sister Laini were his lifeline and were never far from his side. They shared a life of happiness even in light of the challenges they faced early on. Laini’s fear of heights was always the basis for one of Christopher’s antics and every time they went for a swim off the Cottage by the Sea, he would give Laini a swift push. She can never be afraid again. Jonny looked up to his brother as the fearless underdog he always was and played a role of happiness and protection to him and others. He will never forget the times skateboarding together down the streets of Wrightsville Beach or the endless surf sessions at the Wall together. And then came Ashlyn, the one woman that truly loved him for who he was. They spent their days with the two dogs, enjoying family and working hard to create a life together. Christopher was welcomed into the JPS Construction family a few years ago and began a promising career in the trades. Working his way up to a junior foreman and even being highlighted on one of the company promo marketing videos. All his uncles loved to hear about his job site blunders and exciting milestones. Christopher is survived by his father & step mother Andrew and Carrie Kellar, his sister Laini Kellar, brother Jonny Kellar, his grandparents Nancy Kellar and Russ Dorley, John Kellar and Eileen Cashman. All his Aunts and Uncles; Rich, Courtney, Steve, Kathy and cousins Ryan, Kevin, Rocco, Luca and Richie. As well as his birth parents Keith Plaisted, Cheryl Rinkiewicz and the whole Nelson family. A celebration of his life will be held in the summertime at Christopher’s favorite surf spot. For online condolences please visit www.jvwoodfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction and care of the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel
