Patricia Atkins

Patricia Atkins was born August 10, 1938 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Juanita McKinnon and James Wright. She departed this life at the age of 82 on February 8, 2021 peacefully in her sleep. Patricia attended the Cumberland County School System in Fayetteville, N.C., and Essex County College Nursing Program in Newark, N.J. She became employed as a Nursing Assistant at Hospitality Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center which later became New Vista Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center where she retired from. Patricia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends laughing, talking, eating, playing cards, going on trips with her senior citizen group, and just having fun! She also enjoyed watching karate movies, cowboy movies, TD Jakes, and anything on the AMC & True Grit networks. Patricia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jessie Atkins, her daughter Ramona Wright, her brother Billy Wright, and her sister Linda Smith. Patricia leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Latif Muslim/Maurice Wright, and his companion of many years, Lisa McLaurin; three grandchildren, Ahmed Joaquin (Crystal), Raurice McLaurin, and Fatimah Santiago; five great grandchildren, Raurice McLaurin Jr.,Rhajay McLaurin, Laquan Santiago, Quentin Santiago Hardy, and Quamir Santiago Hardy; two brothers, Larry Smith and James/Pee Wee Smith (Debra); two special friends, Barbara Berry and Mary Guarte; along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
