Rosa Lee Tolliver Obituary

MANSFIELD, OHIO: Rosa Lee Tolliver, age 86, peacefully passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 from her Mansfield, Ohio home under the care of OhioHealth Hospice with loving family by her side. Rosa Lee was born October 8, 1934 in Honaker, Virginia the daughter of Billie and Beulah (Owens) Hess and graduated from Honaker High School. She worked many years at Ideal Electric in Mansfield, Ohio. She met Hollis R. Tolliver, Sr. and the pair married on June 1, 1973. Upon retiring in 1990, her husband and Rosa Lee began spending winters in Florida and summer in Tennessee/Virginia. In Florida, she was a member of Ocala Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and journaling every day. Another favorite activity was fishing—especially with her brother in Virginia. Rosie had her own bass boat and it was her husband‘s job to clean the fish she caught! Rosa Lee was also an excellent cook and no one who entered her home went hungry. Friends would ask for her Three Layer Carolina Dessert by name. Anyone who knew Rosa Lee would describe her as lovely and she was friends with everyone she met. She was a strong woman who was gifted with hospitality and a great love for her family. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Hollis “H.T.” Tolliver of Mansfield, Ohio; son Gerald (Sharon) Strouth of Mansfield, Ohio; daughter Patricia (Larry) Brubaker of Fredericktown, Ohio; step-children Michael (Shirley) Tolliver of Mansfield, Ohio, Tom (Nancy) Tolliver of Mifflin, Ohio, and Hollis Jr. (Kelly) Tolliver of Lexington, Ohio; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; siblings Gene Hess, Phyllis Tiller, Richard Hess, Kenneth Hess, Wayne Hess, and Bonnie Hart; and her faithful canine companion, Sadie the dachshund. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren; sisters Ollie and Faye; and step-daughters Drema and Debra. The Tolliver family wishes to thank the nurses and aides of OhioHealth Hospice for the compassionate care they gave to Rosa Lee the past several weeks. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Ketron Memorial Gardens (154 Huckleberry Rd, Lebanon, Virginia, 24266) officiated by Pastor James Walker.
