Obituary
Greta Boeré of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Anton Boeré, departed this life after a brief illness at Fort Macleod AB on February 22nd, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
Greta is survived by her children René (Brenda), Peter (Verne), Sylvia (Mark) and Valerie; grandchildren Adrian (Lisa), Robyn (Neil), Alistair, Dax, Austin, Blake (Nicole), Hanna, and great grandchildren William, Kaitlyn and India.
She lived in Lethbridge since 2007 and previously for many years in Edmonton. Greta was born Geertje Wilhelmina Rijkje Nieuwhoff in the town of Breukelen, Netherlands in 1932 and after surviving brutal conditions in the war years married Anton in 1956. They emigrated in 1958. She worked as a domestic aid to struggling families before her marriage and thereafter was a dedicated homemaker on four continents.
Greta, first with her husband, and later on her own, was active in charitable work through the Hope Mission and other organizations assisting the disadvantaged in Edmonton and, earlier, in Nova Scotia. Her compassion and kindness were appreciated by all with whom she had contact.
A private family Graveside Service will take place at 11:00 am, Monday, March 1, 2021 at South Haven Cemetery in Edmonton, Alberta.
