Carolynn Merene Erickson Obituary

Carolynn Merene Erickson passed away at home in Cherry Grove, Alberta on February 23, 2021. Carol was born in Cold Lake, Alberta, to Margarett Ellen and Darrnall Wayne Hatch on June 26, 1948. Raised in Cherry Grove with her five siblings, she returned to raise her own family alongside her husband of 49 years, Gary Erickson. Married in 1971, they had six children, five of whom survive her. Carol taught school for many years. As a home economics teacher, she was able to share her talents with students in Chauvin, Grand Centre and Frog Lake, Alberta and in Goodsoil & Pierceland, Saskatchewan. Her love for her students was evident and she enjoyed following their lives after they graduated. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions over the years. Carol was also active in the community, was president of the Cold Lake Quilt Guild, and co-chair of Cherry Grove’s 75th Anniversary celebrations. Carol will be remembered for her love of quilting, gardening, and baking. She used these talents and others to bless the lives of those around her. In her last years, she took refuge in her beautiful garden and home. Carol was a devoted grandmother. She enjoyed sharing her talents and passions with her grandchildren and encouraged them to develop their own by attending their events and working alongside them. She is survived by her husband: Gary Erickson; five children: Allison Erickson, Marc (Crystal) Eriksson, Kjersti (Jason) Wytrykush, Svea (BJ) Pinch, Lars (Trevor Snaychuk) Erickson; ten grandchildren: Brittney (Dysin) Mayo, Connor (Rebecca Zachoda) Wytrykush, Tait Pinch, Ava Pinch, Kajsa Pinch, Henrik Eriksson, Jonas Wytrykush, Lise Eriksson, Maja Pinch, Sawyer Wytrykush; one great grandchild: Henry Mayo. Her son, Colin Erickson, and parents, Darrnall Wayne and Margarett Ellen Hatch, preceded her in death.
