Delbert "Del" Peugh Obituary

Delbert “Del” Peugh, age 85, of Bourbon, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Delbert Dean Peugh was born December 6, 1935 in Paris, AR, to Thomas and Theodosia (Pettigrew) Peugh. He grew up and attended school in Paris, AR, graduating from Paris High School in 1953. In 1957, Del enlisted into the US Army and spent six years serving our country. Trained in medical equipment maintenance, Del was in California for a time before deployment to Germany. Eventually, he returned to Oklahoma, where he served until his honorable discharge in 1963. Del met Norma Jean Johnson while in the service and they were united in marriage August 2, 1958 in Lemay, MO. To this union, their daughter Rene was born. After his discharge from the Army, Del went to work for the Lutheran Medical Center while he and Norma resided in Arnold, MO. He eventually became an Administrator and was employed there until his retirement in 1995. Del had a tremendous passion for horses. Along with his job as Administrator, he also operated Del Peugh Stables in Arnold, where he trained, boarded and showed Tennessee Walking Horses. In 1995, Del and Norma relocated to Bourbon, where they would make their final home. They moved the horse operation to their property in Bourbon as well, where he continued working with horses in recent years. Del enjoyed hunting, raising English bulldogs, restoring Porsches, and beekeeping with his grandson, Elliot. Those who knew Del knew how social and outgoing he was. Del was one to never meet a stranger. He will be missed by his family and friends. Del is survived by his daughter, Rene Whitcraft (and her husband, Charlie) of Bourbon; three grandchildren: Elliot Whitcraft (and his wife, Kayla) of New Haven, MO, Elaine Scheid and David Whitcraft, both of Parkville, MO; three great-grandchildren: Kiersten Whitcraft of New Haven, Charley Scheid of Parkville, MO, and Haley Whitcraft of Bloomingdale, IL; his sister, Datherine Reed of Granada Hills, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
