Brenda (Croom) Merritt

Brenda (Croom) Merritt was born on February 12, 1941 to the late Ellis Doremus Croom and Redell Danzey Croom in Newark, New Jersey. She was one of twelve children. Brenda received her education in Newark Public School system ending her studies at South Side High School currently known as Malcom X Shabazz. On January 18, 1964 Brenda Croom married her husband Ronald Merritt. They were married for 57 years and their union added to their family one beautiful daughter Ronda Merritt and one grandson Tarae Merritt. On March 2009, a blissful day of nuptials, she gained a son-in-love Craig Wright and another grandson Craig Wright Jr. Brenda was hardworking and embraced her career at Burry Biscuits until her day of retirement. Brenda enjoyed entertainment. She loved playing Bingo, going to the movies with her daughter, and buying scratch offs. Nonetheless, most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved ALL her nieces and nephews and spoke with them often providing lovingly support, advice and guidance. Brenda leaves a legacy of compassion and to cherish fond memories her husband Ronald Merritt, her daughter Ronda Merritt, son-in-law Craig Wright and two grandsons, Tarae Merritt and Craig Wright Jr. Her three sisters: Mozell Hicks of New Jersey, Elaine White (Harvey) of North Carolina, and Anna Feacher of New Jersey, two sisters-in-law Helen Croom and Faye Croom, along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
