Pendergast, James E. 90 years old, formerly of Wells, Maine and Natick, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Monday morning February 22, 2021 at Huntington Commons in Kennebunk, Maine.
Jim, as he was known to all, was born and raised in Waltham, Massachusetts. He was the son of John and Mary (Hurley) Pendergast. He married the love of his life, Anne (Reilly) Pendergast on May 15, 1954. They shared 60 loving years together raising three sons in Natick, where Jim was an active member of The Elks Club. The couple enjoyed traveling the country together with their family whenever possible. Jim worked for New England Telephone in Needham, MA for over thirty years before retiring to his beloved Wells, Maine.
He enjoyed taking long walks on the beach, completing crossword puzzles, and pursued his love for woodworking and other projects. In time, Anne and Jim became devoted grandparents to their 3 grandchildren. They felt fortunate to have had so many good friends over the years. They loved their church community at St Mary’s in Wells. They also looked forward to spending Saturday evenings out for dinner at their two favorite restaurants: The Bull and Claw and Mike’s Clam Shack. Over the years, the couple developed a special bond with the staff at both restaurants; they always appreciated the warm greetings and special treatment they provided.
Jim was predeceased by wife Anne, son James Pendergast Jr., siblings William Pendergast, John Pendergast, Daniel Pendergast, Matthew Pendergast, Richard Pendergast and Dorothy Aborn. James is survived by two sons Stephen Pendergast and Kevin Pendergast, daughter in-laws Lisa Pendergast and Heather Pendergast, sister Mary Keyes, grandchildren Lily Pendergast, Gerald Pendergast and Riley Pendergast along with countless nieces and nephews.
