<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Mr. Jimmy Julian Cantrell, age 73, of Patterson, passed away early Sunday morning (2/21/21) at his residence following an extended illness.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Born July 22, 1947 in Jesup, Georgia, he was a son of the late Floyd Hugh and Grace Knight Cantrell.&nbsp; He grew up in Patterson and graduated from Patterson High School in 1966. He joined the United States Marines and served in the Vietnam War, retiring as a Sergeant. He lived in Jacksonville, Florida for 26 years where he worked and retired from UPS.&nbsp; He returned home to Patterson in 1991 and was a member of Laura Chapel Baptist Church.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Barbara Smith Cantrell; and his brother and sister-in-law, Floyd Alvin and Cynthia Davis Cantrell.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Survivors include his wife, Shirley Herrin Cantrell of Patterson; daughter, Faith Hall of Patterson; grandson, Emmitt Hall of Patterson; nephew, Tony Cantrell (wife Rachel) of Statesboro; niece, Alisha Johns Spivey (husband Todd) of Raybon, GA; 2 great nieces, Michelle and Lily Cantrell of Statesboro; the mother of his daughter, Frances Wright Cantrell of Patterson; and several cousins and other relatives.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">A graveside funeral service will take place on Wednesday (2/24/21) at 2 p.m. at Laura Chapel Cemetery with Rev. David Herrin and Rev. Hilton Morgan officiating.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31503.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Sympathy may be expressed by signing online at www.hartfh.com.</span></span></p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:18px;">Hart Funeral Home of Blackshear is in charge of arrangements.</span></span></p>
