Steve L. Gordon Obituary

Steve L. Gordon, III, 64, of Bristol, died on Sunday (July 8, 2012) at Hartford Hospital.  Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Dallon Gordon, and his two children: Shane M. Gordon of Bristol, and Stephanie A. Gordon of Washington, DC.  Born in Bristol on July 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Steve L. Gordon, Jr. and Lauraine (Purrier) Gordon and was a loving older brother to his two sisters, Ellen Fults of Bristol and Virginia Von Lunen of Laramie, Wyoming.   He also leaves his mother and father-in-law, Robert and Doris Dallon of Bristol, his two aunts, Maude Taylor of Pace, Mississippi, and Helen Purrier of Bristol, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Steve graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1965, enlisted in the Army following his graduation and proudly served his country for seven years – serving two years in Vietnam and one on the DMZ in Korea.  He was a lifetime member of The Military Order of the Purple Heart, the 25th Infantry Division Association – Tropic Lightning, the Mackenzie’s Raiders  3rd Squadron- 4th Cavalry – B Troop, and the Disabled American Veterans.  Steve was Past Commander of the American Legion Seicheprey Post 2 and a member the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 10240.  For 36 years, Steve was a devoted employee of the Arthur G. Russell Company.  He took pride that he always left his customers satisfied.  He was an exceptional bowler and enjoyed golfing and traveling.  Throughout his life, Steve was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, either through organized community service or just by being a good neighbor.  His faith in God was with him always.  A funeral service at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, and a celebration of his life will be held on Friday (July 13, 2012) at 12 Noon.  The family will receive friends prior to the service between 11 AM and Noon on Friday.  He will be interred in a place of honor at Arlington National Cemetery in August.  The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the USO: https://www.uso.org/donate/.  Please visit Steve’s memorial web-site at www.FunkFuneralHome.com.
