Obituary

Cheryl Faith Yuill

It is with great sadness that we share with family and friends the sudden passing of Cheryl Faith Yuill “Chow”. On February 17, 2021 Cheryl got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 73 years old.  “Gone far too soon but the memory of her will always be in our hearts”. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children, Wanita (Paul) and Richard (Jill and Corinna) and grandchildren Morgan, Lucas, and Bradley. Her siblings Victoria (Randle), Gordon (Monica), Judith (Rob deceased), Douglas (Wen), Brenda (Dan) and Cecil along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Gregory Yuill (September 14, 2020), her mother Beulah Leclair and father, Carl Schmidt, her step father Villemaire Leclair.

Cheryl was born on January 29, 1948 in New Denver, BC and grew up in Kaslo, BC.  On, December 4, 1965, she married Wayne Gregory Yuill at St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral in Nelson, BC.  They raised a daughter Wanita and a son Richard spending there years together in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Yukon.  In later years Cheryl loved travelling around with all her brothers and sisters, they had many adventures together and countless stories to share. She was a great admirer and collector of all things relating to the British Royal family, tea cozies and all.  When she was younger, she had a passion for “slow pitch” and swimming. Throughout her life she loved to watch “The Walton’s”, “Little House on the Prairie” and all the home reno shows she could fit in and on many occasions, she shared these specials times with family. On speaking with her siblings Cecil and Judy, Cheryl told them one of her favourite quotes was by Laura Ingalls Wilder author of the Little House series.  “Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you all. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all”. She would do anything for her children and grandchildren, they were her world no matter what they did or if they argued and disagreed, she always loved them unconditionally.  She dreamed of one day making it to a tropical ocean where she could swim for hours, we promise to make that wish come true. Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, will be greatly missed, keep her in your hearts and she will stay there forever.

A celebration of life and burial is to take place in Kaslo, British Columbia in the summer of 2021 where

we will share your stories of remembrance of Cheryl and Wayne. Special thanks to all those who made her last few months comfortable and who were there to support her throughout her life.

Please remember Cheryl by this beautiful poem about living on after “She is Gone” (this is what she would expect everybody to do and the Queen’s Mom loved it as well)

She is Gone

You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her

Or you can be full of the love that you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday

You can remember her and only that she is gone

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back

Or you can do what she would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
