Obituary Robert A. WolfEagle Sheidler April 4, 1949 – February 8, 2021 Robert A. WolfEagle Sheidler, 71, passed away on February 8, 2021 at the Worland Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Robert was born on April 4, 1949 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Lester Sysco Cole and Mary Frances Walker. He was adopted at age 6 and spent the rest of his childhood in Ohio, graduating as Valedictorian of the class of 1967 from Ottowa-Glandorf, High School. His thirst for knowledge led him to find education in college classes as well as gaining knowledge of the world around him. His travels took him to New York, Florida, South Carolina, California and even to Europe and Egypt. He had a PhD in Native American History. He was proud of his Indian heritage and was very talented in beadwork and leatherwork. He participated and organized Powwow’s all over the United States. He had hoped to donate some of his Indian artifacts and handiwork to the Hot Springs County Museum in Thermopolis. Rob kept himself busy and was one tough old man! He said he was supposed to die at age 30, but was too stubborn to go that early. His friend, Steve, used to tease him that he would probably outlive Betty White. Some of his finest accomplishments were that he was a part of the First Nations Council in Sacramento, California and Chief of the Waccamaws in South Carolina. He was also on the Native American Council for the United Nations and founded four non-profit organizations. He served for over 20 years as a State Patrol Officer in Virginia, retiring with the rank of Captain. After his retirement, he enjoyed teaching others about Native American History. He especially enjoyed sharing his knowledge with elementary school children. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and son in 1979. Survivors included his friend and caregiver, Steven Cable of Thermopolis, numerous brothers and sisters, including, Kenneth Quillen of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, Sharon Rewchuk of Brighten, Colorado, Heather Cole of Nortan, Kansas and Ginger Ray of Cedarredge, Colorado.
