Venge Lee (Muenchow) Rakowitz entered eternal rest on Friday, February 12, 2021, at the age of 77. She was born on October 28, 1943, in San Antonio, TX to Theodore and Julia (Kusmierz) Muenchow. While Venge was employed at Friedrich Air Conditioning when she was younger, once she became a mother, she took pride in the role of being a homemaker. Her children cherished the time that she spent with them, the memories made, and the wisdom passed on. She loved growing beautiful flowers and raising bottle calves. Once she had grandchildren and a great grandson, she treasured that role with a passion that her family will forever remember. In recognition for her service as the wife of a National Guardsman, she received the Yellow Rose of Texas Award in 2004, which was given to her by Governor Rick Perry. Venge was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, infant brother Hilmar Muenchow, Adeline Krueger, Wilbert Muenchow, and Jean Ann Henkes; and brother-in-law, Gladwin Krueger. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Carl Rakowitz; children, Sherry Porter and husband Richard, Christine Hoffmann and husband Otis, and William Rakowitz and wife Kelly; grandchildren, Michelle Porter, Shannon Porter, Amanda Hoffmann, Carlee Hoffmann, Kirsta Koennecke, and Michael Hoffmann; great-grandson, Matthew Porter; brother, Douglas Muenchow and wife Darnell; brothers-in-law, Charles Henkes, Lambert Rakowitz and wife Mary; sisters-in-law, Doris Muenchow, Janice Shadrock and husband James, and Donna Cude and husband Billy; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021, at Finch Funeral Chapel- La Vernia. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at the funeral home. Funeral Mass Tuesday, February 23, 2021 2:00 PM Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Selma, TX Father Eric Ritter will officiate the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Redeemer United Church of Christ Cemetery in Zuehl, TX. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul Society, 16075 N. Evans Rd., Selma, TX 78154.
