Lois Maie Kubishke Obituary

Lois Maie Kubishke (nee Kossin), 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 14, 2021. She was born September 14, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio and has been a resident of Vermilion for the past 20 years. Lois was a beautiful woman that had a fabulous way about her whenever she entered a room. She was an avid lover of the outdoors, she would often visit the Fish and Game Club for a peaceful and patient day of fishing, something she loved to teach her grandchildren about. Lois also loved gardening, roses in particular were her favorite, so much so that whenever you smelled the sweet perfume of a rose you knew it was her. Lois also loved baking and decorating beautiful cakes for many years before she channeled her creativity into intricate embroidery. She always loved to dance no matter what the occasion was, if a song with a good rhythm started playing, Lois would start dancing. It is quite possible that one of the most admirable things about Lois was that she always danced like no one was watching, she always loved to bring a little bit of sparkle and sass with her wherever she went. She was a dedicated member of the Red Hat Society, attending every event she could and absolutely loved being the spunky “Lady Spike” that her beloved fellow members knew her as. Lois did everything she could to be a very present part in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Family above all else was what she was most proud of, I think that anyone who knew Lois also knew that she was so very proud of her children and grandchildren. She took great pride in her family and loved any opportunity to host any family gathering she could to see everyone together. “If I listen closely I can hear the rustle of angel wings and know that you are still with us.” She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Charlie) Peterson of Spanish Fork, UT, Cheryl King of Oberlin, Wanda Ferjutz of Huron, Sherry (Mark) Brainard of Lorain, and Brenda (Gregg) Gorsuch of Berlin Heights; sons, David (Jane) King of Vermilion and Chris (Lynn) King of South Amherst; thirteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David King; second husband, Paul Kubishke; parents, George and Joanne (nee Sullivan) Kossin; sisters, Noreen Squires and Elizabeth Gortz; and grandchildren, Barbara King and Michael King. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 27th from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at 1 pm at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Interment will follow at Rugby Cemetery. Friends and family who want to come are welcome to attend, but due to Covid-19, we are asking that people be careful to maintain social distancing and wear masks. The Family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association 38440 Chester Rd Unit B Avon, OH 44011 or Stein Hospice 1200 Sycamore Line Sandusky, OH 44870.
