ROCKLAND – Margaret L. Lenfestey, 92, entered her heavenly home, Friday, February 12, 2021, at her home, in the care and love of her family.

Born in Addison, December 7, 1928, she was the daughter of R. Maynard, and Florence Worcester Gray, Sr. She attended local schools.

On August 12, 1948, she married Chester E. Lenfestey at Jonesport, beginning a marriage that would be an example of love and commitment, ultimately becoming a model to be emulated by their six children and 39 offspring. The Lenfestey’s made their home at Beals Island until moving to Jonesport in 1953. While raising her family, Margaret worked raking blueberries, packing sardines and for more than 10 years as a cook at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Jonesport. Except for living in Glen Cove from 1970 to 1977, they made their home in Jonesport, until moving to Rockland in 2002, after Mr. Lenfestey suffered a stroke.

They found their new home at the Methodist Home, where Mrs. Lenfestey personally cared for her husband more than seven years until his passing, September 23, 2009. She continued residence there until her death and was grateful for the friendships and camaraderie she enjoyed with her neighbors and staff.
Always the consummate homemaker, her greatest love was her family. Her door was always open, and her family now tells of large, wonderful family gatherings for the holidays at the Lenfesty’s Jonesport home, making that a special place.

She loved playing BINGO and taught her grandchildren how to play various card games.

Other than her parents and husband, Mrs. Lenfestey was pre-deceased by two brothers, Ralph Gray, Kenneth Gray, and a sister, Beatrice Huntley Urquhart. She is survived by six children and their spouses, Chester E. Lenfestey, Jr. and Lois K. of Belgrade, Ralph Lenfestey and Gail of Warren, Lillian Jones of Thomaston, Craig Lenfestey of Gardiner, Beatrice Dodge and Clinton, Jr. of Rockland, Terra Ripley and Wayne of Warren; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Laurie Roddy and Michael, Ralph Lenfestey and Toni, Ricky Jones and Christienne, Michelle McNeilly and Josh, Jared Lenfestey and Abrielle, Matthew Lenfestey and Carlyn, Jeffrey Lenfestey, Leah Mims and Michael, Kimberly Danforth and Michael, Joanna Starkloff and Eric, Greg Jones and Hannah, Clinton Dodge, III, Laura Dodge, Chelsea Ripley; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Alley of Ellsworth, Joanne Rathbun of Ft. Meyers, FL, Norma Milam of Zephyr Hills, Fl; many nieces and nephews as well as many beloved extended family.
