Obituary

Doug Zeigler passed away peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2021 at the age of 74 years.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Beatrice & Orville Zeigler; his father John Batt; his mother Kathrine (step-father Ray) Postles; his sisters Sheila, Shirley and Darlene; and his brother Charles. Doug is survived by his wife Ann Moch ; his brother Allen McKay of Kitchener, Ontario; three generations of nieces, nephews; and many friends to remember the good times they enjoyed together.

Born in Vancouver, BC, Doug went on to attend Athabasca University with a focus on Social Psychology. He worked in Human Services at all levels, government and non-profit organizations, and was an active volunteer for over 35 years. The latter part of his life, he resided in Medicine Hat, Alberta, with Ann and many friends.

Doug’s passions in life were studying history, writing poems, sports, looking ‘deeper’ and had certain values that guided him in his life. He lived one day at a time, lived each moment to the fullest, and he lived in each moment. His understanding was that there was a life after death. By his own personal experiences, Doug did not fear death. He even authored a book on these experiences ‘The Proof is in the Pudding’.

He wished to leave with you a quote from Mark Twain -

“The fear of death follows from fear of life. A man who fully lives is prepared to die at any time”.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
