<p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Marilyn L. Porter</p> <p>April 23, 1938 &ndash; February 1, 2021</p> <p>Marilyn Lucile Porter, age 82, passed away at her home in Rancho Cordova, CA on Monday February 1, 2021 as a result of cancer.&nbsp; Marilyn is survived by her loving husband Walter Porter of 40 years.&nbsp; Much loved mother of Yvonne Pielenz (Aaron Smart) and Greg Pielenz (Trish); grandmother of Ian and Jeremy Smart and Malachi and Declan Pielenz; sister of Robert Evans (Janet).&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Evans, sister-in-law, Geraldine Evans, and her parents, Howard and Lauretta Evans. Remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.&nbsp;</p> <p>Marilyn was born in Sacramento, grew up in Roseville, and graduated from Roseville High School in 1956.&nbsp; She earned a Bachelor&rsquo;s degree in Liberal Studies from CSU Chico.&nbsp; She worked for 25 years at McClellan AFB.&nbsp; She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, photography, music, art, movies, and especially travel &ndash; road trips to many states, cruises, and flights to foreign countries: Paris, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hong Kong, China, Panama Canal, Jamaica, Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Chile, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Machu Picchu in Peru.&nbsp; A favorite destination was Hawaii. She loved family reunions, playing cards (Pinochle) with friends, and coffee get-togethers. In her youth, she was involved in Camp Fire Girls and continued to meet annually with this group of friends.&nbsp;</p> <p>Marilyn loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. She is dearly missed and forever in our hearts and minds.&nbsp; A celebration of life is planned for 4/24/2021 at the Granite Bay Activity Center; please contact the family for more details.&nbsp; Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, WEAVE, or the SPCA.&nbsp; Thank you to RC Hospice for all the wonderful care and support they provided.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>

I am so sorry for your loss. I have so many good memories of her dry wit! I know how much my mom & Russ loved traveling with her and Walt, and they had so many good times together. My deepest sympathies to you all.

Marilyn, I miss you and the coffees that you attended with the original exercise group at La Bou and Panera.  You weren't a big talker but your comments were always pertinent and intelligent. Rest in Peace.
