Kathleen M. Salvia Obituary

Kathleen (“Kathi”) M. (Collins) Salvia, 78, of Milford passed away Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at her residence after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. She was the beloved wife of Jack R. Salvia for more than 61 years. Kathi was a loan officer at the former Milford National Bank and Trust Co. in Milford for many years. Previously, she had been employed at the former Milford Savings Bank and the former Blackstone Valley National Bank. Kathi was born in 1942 in Milford, the daughter of the late Francis and Ellen (Granholm) Collins and was a graduate of Milford High School, Class of 1960. She later attended banking courses at Fairfield University, Fairfield, CT. Kathi viewed most occasions and gatherings as a cause for celebration. She was the biggest cheerleader and supporter of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She had a generous spirit, a warm heart, and enjoyed helping others. She took great pride in her Irish and Finnish ancestry and was passionate about Native American heritage. Kathi was also a trend setting “fashionista” who enjoyed an occasional shopping trip or two, and she especially loved New York City. She was fond of the arts, the beach, all kinds of music, and loved all animals. Kathi possessed a keen inner strength and lived life to the fullest. In addition to her husband Jack, she is survived by her daughters, Suzanne E. and her husband John DeSisto of Milford, Jacquelyn M. and her husband William Locke of Milford, Debra A. Mazzarelli of Milford, Lori A. Salvia and her fiancé Bruce Anderson of Raynham, and Kim E. Salvia Schmidt of Attleboro Falls; her brother William and his wife Jean Collins of Falmouth, and her sister-in-law Paula Dillon and husband Joe Phillips of Hingham; 12 grandchildren, Jacquelyn DeSisto Alex and her husband Dr. Garrick Alex, Michael DeSisto, Christopher Locke and his wife Ashley, Alyson Locke, Nicole Strapponi, Jason Strapponi and his fiancée Crystal Markiewicz, Timothy Strapponi, Steven Strapponi, Justin Strapponi and his wife Gabrielle, Emma Mazzarelli and her partner Eldridge François, and Haylee Schmidt and her partner Jake Alaburda; 11 great grandchildren, Lili, Mia and Jaxson Strapponi, Evelyn Strapponi and Julia Markiewicz, Stella Strapponi, Emily Moss, Jarrett Alaburda, and John Alaburda, Tatum Anderson and Chase Anderson, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Alves, her brother-in-law David Alves, her son-in-law Peter Mazzarelli, and her great grandchild, Aiden Strapponi. Holidays were so special to Kathi, and one of her favorites was St. Patrick’s Day. So this St. Patty’s Day, we hope you raise your glass to “Kathi.” Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Rd., Suite 103, Framingham, MA 01701 or to Dana-Farber: online at www.dana-farber.org/gift, or by mail to: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Attn.
