Fred Brown Obituary

Fred Brown Monticello, NY Formerly of Middletown, NY Fred Brown was born on April 25, 1971 in Middletown NY at Horton Memorial Hospital to Charles and Elizabeth (Alexander- predeceased) Brown Sr. Fred passed away after a short illness at Garnet Hospital in Harris, NY on February 12, 2021, with his brother Tom Brown and sister-in-law Denise by his side. Fred truly enjoyed life to the fullest and shared that joy with every life he touched along his life’s journey. His infectious laugh, his genuine and robust greeting (Hey, how you?), his love of family and a delicious meal, clearly overshadowed his physical challenges. He resided in Harris, NY at the Center for Discovery, where he could be considered something like the “town mayor”, known by all and he liked to be involved in all day to day activities. Fred was very fond of the staff, his extended family, who provided such loving and compassionate care for his entire adult life on a daily basis. Spending time with family was his favorite activity. He enjoyed having family visits, offering coffee, singing a song and showing off his room. He preferred going out with the family. He enjoyed celebrating his birthday where he almost always requested chicken parmesan with spaghetti and a special treat of Dr. Pepper soda. Holidays were the highlight of the year for Fred and the entire family. He brought so much joy and magic to every occasion. When his brother Tom married, and his extended family grew, every single family member would always anticipate Fred’s visits and ask, Fred will be here, right? Fred had an enormously loving heart, but his greatest love was for his doting brother, Thomas Brown. There was a mutual devotion. They shared a wonderful bond and Fred understood the depths of their connection. When Tom was legally made Fred’s guardian and the judge asked Fred if he knew what it meant, Fred replied, “he gives a darn about me”. Fred had a strong desire to know the Lord. He clearly knew him, it is reflected in how he effortlessly loved others. That love will live beyond Fred’s immediate and extended family; as Fred has provided the gift of sight, assistance of heart repair with his valve and other lifesaving organ donations. He is survived by his father, Charles Brown Sr., of North Carolina; brother, Thomas Brown and sister-in-law, Denise of Newburgh, NY; brother, Thomas Decker and sister-in-law, Elizabeth of Highland Ranch, CO; brother, Charles Brown Jr. of, North Carolina, sister Tracy Brown of Middletown NY; nephew, Michael Williams and fiancé’, Jacqueline Ramirez of Ellenville NY; brother-in-law, Leon Carpenter of Newburgh, NY; four great nieces, Cincere Jackson, Brenda Williams, Zhamya Williams and Michelle Williams of Ellenville/Newburgh NY, a great nephew, Joshua Ramirez; a brother, sister and nephew in love, Glen Sr. and Alexandra Mitchell of Wallkill, NY & Glen Mitchell Jr. of Newburgh, NY.
