Ollie Byrd Tillman Obituary

Mr. Ollie Byrd Tillman, the self-proclaimed Mayor of Metter, was born on December 6, 1948 to the late Mr. John Tillman and the late Mrs. Lona Bell Byrd Tillman in Bulloch County Georgia. He was introduced to Christ from the very beginning of his life and brought up in the family church at St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed an active childhood with a host of first cousins and lifelong friends creating memories that would bring him joy throughout his lifetime. In 1966 he finished his high school education at Lillian Street High School and enrolled in the service, where he spent 10 years and managed to become certified as an aircraft mechanic, gain an E6 ranking, as well as hone his famous culinary abilities. On February 14, 1970 he joined Eugenia Morgan in Holy Matrimony and shared an adventurous ride through life together. Together they moved to Alaska, and expanded their family and also made a few more lifetime friends as well. After returning from Alaska, he would venture into restaurant management, and would discover his true calling in being his own boss, establishing multiple business ventures including a janitorial service, cable services, handyman, and roofing. After lightly retiring in 2020, he spent his time doing things that he enjoyed which included spending time with his friends, fishing, restoring his family home, and spending time with his family. Mr. Byrd Tillman gained his heavenly wings on February 12, 2021. He leaves behind a loving wife Mrs. Eugenia Tillman; four children: Ms. Tara Tillman, Mr. Ollie Tillman Jr., Mr. Travis Gardner (Shalonda), and Mr. Emmanuel Tillman; three grandchildren: Ayana Gardner, Austin Gardner, and Autumn Gardner; his brother, Mr. Curtis Tillman (Ann); two nieces: Ms. Lisa McEachern and Ms. Leigh Ann Tillman; a maternal aunt, Ms. Mildred Scott; his paternal first cousin, Ms. Nadine Brown; along with a host of great nieces and nephew, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind a lot of fun memories, good laughs, and we can all rest assured that he would want us to not only remember him, but also continue to share a laugh with him.
