Shaun Steffensen Obituary

Shaun Steffensen was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, on October 8, 1976 to Bill and Juli Steffensen. He was a delightful addition to the family and quickly became his older brother Stacey’s inseparable partner in crime. When his younger brother, Destry, was born, Shaun became a loving and protective big brother. While living in Idaho, Shaun attended Gethsemane Christian School from K4 through Junior year. He was active in church and youth groups. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, hunting and excelled at baseball as a pitcher and first baseman. He was chosen to play on several All-Star teams and competed in numerous district and state tournaments. In 1993, the family moved to Pensacola, Florida. Shaun attended Pensacola Christian Academy his Senior year where he was a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams. He was chosen MVP of his baseball team. He graduated in 1994. After his freshman year at PCC, he transferred to University of South Alabama to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. He later changed his major and earned a B.S degree in Sports Medicine in 1999. He was an independent, dedicated worker and worked his way through college. After graduation he had several jobs in Mobile, Alabama before becoming a Certified Flood Insurance Adjuster. Being a very professional and organized person with a caring nature and desire to help others, this became his dream career. Working with large insurers and FEMA, he traveled where storms caused flooding and naturally befriended and helped many people along the way. He married Cassie Crowley, the love of his life. They made their home in Mobile, Alabama and divorced in 2020. Shaun developed an interest in golf and thoroughly enjoyed playing many rounds with friends and colleagues on various courses in many states. His crowning golf achievement was winning a long drive contest by driving 312 yards. The second-place finisher was Jake Coker, the 2015 Alabama National Championship Quarterback. Shaun was a die-hard Florida Gator fan and considered this an important Florida Gator victory. Shaun was an ardent supporter of President Trump and enjoyed a good debate about politics. He loved his many friends, and it is very evident they loved him. He touched many lives for the better. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. It is hoped that each of them will rejoice in their memories of time with Shaun. Shaun is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Faye Steffensen; grandfather, George Giannini; uncle, Butch Knodle and cousin Troy Giannini. Shaun is survived by his loving family, father, Bill; mother, Juli; younger brother, Destry; older brother, Stacey; sister-in-law, Marisa; nieces, Ashlyn and Hailey; nephew, Hunter; 92 year old grandmother, Dorothea Giannini; several aunts and uncles, many cousins and a legion of faithful friends.
