Daryle Harrison, Sr Obituary

Daryle Carnell Harrison, Sr., 56, passed away on February 12, 2021.  He was born on August 12, 1964 in Arcadia, Louisiana to Ronald and Laura Harrison and was the 2nd child born to this union.  Both parents, including his stepfather, Winston Solomon, preceded him in death.

Daryle was educated in the Kansas City, MO School District, graduating from Westport High School in 1982. While in high school, he played football, ran track and was a member of ROTC. He was voted most popular, handsomest, best instrumentalist, and nicest of his graduating class, and was also crowned homecoming King. Outside of school, Daryle played football for the Stacey Vikings youth football league.  He played the drums, taking private lessons at the Charlie Parker Foundation. He also loved to draw.

As a young adult, Daryle participated in the mentorship program for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and was a camp counselor for youth summer camps in La Cygne, Kansas. Until his passing, he worked in Environmental Operations as a Senior Environmental Technician at AECOM for over twenty years.  He had also been employed with the Kansas City, MO School District and Guy’s Snack Corporation.

Daryle remained active in sports his entire adult life, playing for KC Jazz and other local football teams in the area. He loved to golf and to bowl, bowling in leagues when his schedule would permit. Daryle coached little league sports and was well respected as an umpire for both little league and adult baseball and softball teams.

Daryle enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his family and friends. He also enjoyed shopping, particularly for shoes and was always immaculately dressed.  He had a beautiful smile, and his presence was definitely felt when he entered the room.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, Angelia Collins-Harrison; four sons, Daryle Carnell Harrison, Jr. (Danielle), Carrington Harrison, Geovondie Hough (Amanda), and Mathew Harrison; three daughters, Carmen Nicole Harrison, Latoya Ashley Harrison, and Simone Laura Harrison; stepson, Antwjuan-Markez Jones; stepdaughter, Ashley Denise Johnson (Eric); two brothers, Kevin Harrison (Stephanie), and Michael Harrison;  two sisters, Kecia L. Holland, and Nina R. Liimatta (Michael); 23 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
