Helen A. Sapp

Helen Anna Bixby Sapp, 95, of Virginia passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She was born July 20, 1925 in Pike County, the daughter of Walter and Lorena Tweedell Bixby. She married Wilbur R. “Bill” Sapp on June 13, 1947 and he preceded her in death on March 19, 2005. Helen is survived by her five children, Joyce Durham (Worth) of Texas, Kenneth Sapp of Jacksonville, Richard Sapp (Nancy) of Virginia, Sandra Chaplin (Darryl) of Minnesota and Rhonda Klein (Tracy) of Nebraska; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Hardwick of Springfield and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Bixby, Jr. and Donald Bixby; one sister, Mary Hardwick; one daughter-in-law, Patty Sapp and one grandson, Benjamin Sapp. Helen’s Christian faith came first throughout her life. She made her choice to serve God in her youth. She was a dedicated homemaker and mother to her children. She also worked at Walker Nursing Home for 11 years. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield with burial at Taylor-Martin Cemetery near El Dara. The family will meet friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Memorials are suggested to Walker Nursing Home.
