Willard Edward Snell Norfolk, Virginia Obituary

Willard Edward Snell

Willard Edward Snell, 68, was called to his heavenly home on February 12, 2021. Born in Jacksonville, FL, Willard took great pride in being named after his uncle, a decorated WWII hero and posthumously-awarded Purple Heart recipient. Willard was a consummate jokester with a great sense of humor. He cherished his grandsons and enjoyed spending time with them. Early in life, Willard served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Paratrooper in Fort Bragg, NC. Following his service in the military, Willard was a police officer for the Norfolk Police Department and retired after 26 years. He is predeceased by his parents, Edna Mays Snell and Junius Snell; brother, Wesley Snell; and sister, Sharlotte Shepherd. Left to cherish his memory: his wife of 48 years, Sandra Snell; daughter, Marsha Snell-Kerzanet (Sean); two grandsons, Jacob and Luke Kerzanet; sisters, Carol Nixon and Marla Penny; and brother, Johnny Snell. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 4 to 6PM at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. Willard will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Cemetery in a private ceremony, where military honors will be rendered. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
