George "Pete" Petty Obituary

George “Pete” Petty, 80, Gallipolis, Ohio passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 in Ohio Health Doctors Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. Born January 4, 1941 in Shady Grove, Alabama, he was the son of the late Jim and Ruth (nee Tucker) Petty. He retired from Alan Stone Construction and was a member of Local Union 83.

Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife, Alice Petty, Gallipolis, Ohio, whom he married September 4, 2003; daughters: Shelonda (Glen) Hughes, Bidwell, Ohio and Toni Petty, Jackson, Michigan; stepson: Kip Garnes; grandchildren: Shaina Smith, Kaylee Jones, Kelsey Jones, Anthony Petty II, Kerry Petty, Derry Petty, Courtney Petty as well as four great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren, Braydon Garnes and Khloe Garnes; aunt, Kathryn Bell, Newton Falls, Ohio; sister-in-law, Vivian Petty Dunlap, Grand Blanc, Michigan; mother of his daughter and very good friend, Carol Petty and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Anthony Petty; sisters: Elizabeth Hall, Juanita Calhoun, Mary Ruth Miller, Annie Ruth Lomax and brother, James Petty.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, February 19, 2021 in the McCoy-Moore Funeral Home, Wetherholt Chapel, Gallipolis, Ohio with Rev. Calvin Minnis officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Street Cemetery. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home Friday 11:00 AM to the service time of 1:00 PM.
