<p>FITCHBURG- Charles G. Hurley, 74, of Fitchburg, died Friday, February 12, at Marlborough Hills Nursing Home.<br /> <br /> Charles was born February 5, 1947, in Fitchburg, son of the late Charles V. and the late Laurie A. (Bergeron) Hurley. Charles worked at South Street Elementary School for many years before retiring. He was an active and devout member of Saint Joseph Parish until his health prevented him.<br /> <br /> He was a man of many talents. He built his family&rsquo;s log cabin where they lived and made memories for many years. Charles enjoyed hunting in his younger years but later on becoming passionate about fly fishing. Not only did he enjoy fly fishing, he taught children to fly fish at the Big Moe and also taught fly tying.<br /> <br /> He leaves his wife of 49 years, Maryalice (Newell) Hurley; his daughter, Erin Hurley; his sister, Sandy; and several cousins.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph&nbsp;Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.<br /> <br /> Funeral services are private.<br /> &nbsp;</p> <div>&nbsp;</div>

FITCHBURG- Charles G. Hurley, 74, of Fitchburg, died Friday, February 12, at Marlborough Hills Nursing Home.

Charles was born February 5, 1947, in Fitchburg, son of the late Charles V. and the late Laurie A. (Bergeron) Hurley. Charles worked at South Street Elementary School for many years before retiring. He was an active and devout member of Saint Joseph Parish until his health prevented him.

He was a man of many talents. He built his family’s log cabin where they lived and made memories for many years. Charles enjoyed hunting in his younger years but later on becoming passionate about fly fishing. Not only did he enjoy fly fishing, he taught children to fly fish at the Big Moe and also taught fly tying.

He leaves his wife of 49 years, Maryalice (Newell) Hurley; his daughter, Erin Hurley; his sister, Sandy; and several cousins. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church, 46 Woodland St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.

Funeral services are private.
