Dustin Eugene Garrison Obituary

Dustin Eugene Garrison was born on Tuesday, April 8, 1986 in St. Louis, MO to Daniel Ray Garrison and Vicki Lynn Verble Garrison.  He passed away in Steelville, MO on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the age of 34 years, 10 months and 5 days.

Dustin’s adventurous spirit was contagious. He was a master fisherman who lived to discover new honey holes on the Meramec, taking his beloved chocolate lab, Cocoa, along for many a jet boat ride. Also an avid and skilled outdoorsman, he trekked through the Missouri woods hunting fresh mushrooms or wild game in the spring, and big bucks in the fall. He sometimes took his nephews along, showing them how to track and read the landscape, as well as how to listen for and make animal calls. He loved the boys very much and wanted to make them proud.

Dustin was also known for his fearlessness. From the time he took his first steps, he climbed, crawled, rode, ramped, scaled, and skidded. He was hard to keep up with at times—his poor mom tried not to worry too much. He loved four-wheeling, dirt bike riding, and boating. Dustin was up for any fresh air sport when slinging mud and water were involved. He was a full-throttle male proud of his cleaned up side. Dressing up and looking handsome in a sharp suit and shiny shades gave Dustin a rare boost of positive self-esteem. But it was the natural covering he wore that really spotlighted his good looks.

Dustin’s one-of-a-kind brilliant smile didn’t just light up his entire face, it lit up any space he was in. It was hard to feel bad when Dustin turned that dazzling grin your way, or even better, when he threw back his head and shared his amazing laugh. He hated to see people down and tried to cheer them up—especially his family and friends. Dustin understood how it felt to struggle with soul wounds. He once confessed that he missed his dad every single minute of every day. He never fully recovered from that deep loss as a little boy.

But regardless of his struggles or how bad things got, Dustin always held onto hope and came up with a bright plan. Like most of us, Dustin made plenty of mistakes, and he was well aware of them. He knew he had hurt so many people, but all he ever wanted was to earn back his family’s trust and acceptance. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age, and never stopped believing in the power of forgiveness.

Dustin Garrison was curious, resourceful, a dreamer, and the ultimate salesman. His charm was undeniable, and he will be greatly missed by many. However, he is now reunited with the man he spent most of his life missing, his daddy.

He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Ray Garrison; grandparents Dallas and Nadine Verble and Bill Johnson; best friend Billy Nickles.

He is survived by his mother Vicki Manzotti of Steelville, MO; one daughter; sisters Ashley (Matt) Caudle of Cuba, MO and Chelsee Garrison of Farmington, MO; nephews Christopher Mounce and Bryce Mounce of Cuba, MO and niece Maggie Caudle of Cuba, MO; grandparents Clarence and Bonnie Garrison and Beverly Johnson all of Steelville, MO; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
