Bee, VA – Nina Merle Baker O’quinn, age 74 of Steve’s Branch passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, KY, with her daughters by her side. Merle was the daughter of the late Verlin and Vonice Sykes Baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Carlos O’quinn and Robby Verl O’quinn; a sister, Shirley Kashat; a brother, Roy Baker; her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Laura Deel O’quinn and a special sister-in-law and friend, Betty Owens. Left to mourn her lose and cherish memories are her husband, George Billy “Bill” O’quinn; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer (Benny) Yates and Veronica (Mike) Clevinger; daughter in law, Daphne O’quinn, eight grandchildren, Nina Yates (Roger Deel), Tara (Matthew) Mullins, Sara (Brandon) Tegeler, Ricky Clevinger, Kara (Tyson) Hamilton, Isaac (Miranda) O’quinn, Cassie Clevinger (Josh Owens) and Jesse Yates; seven great grandchildren, Noah and Natalie Mullins, Lucas Tegeler, Carson and Layne Hamilton, Tate O’quinn and a special edition due next month, Warren Owens; three sisters, Sue Willis, Darlene Edwards and Mavis O’Quinn, who was also her friend; three brothers, NC, Clayton and Jeffery Baker; in laws, Kay O’quinn, Alta O’quinn, Kathy Lyall, Faye Flinn, Edna O’quinn, Ella Owens and Sherrel O’quinn, all sisters of her heart; a special brother-in-law, Danny O’quinn and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Haysi Funeral Home with Gary Wayne Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the O’quinn Family Cemetery, Bee, VA. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Yates, Mike Clevinger and Dallas Owens.
