Dennis Christopher Hernandez Oxnard, California Obituary

Dennis Christopher Hernandez

Dennis Hernandez died unexpectedly at 53, on February 8, 2021 at his home in Ventura, CA of natural causes. He was born in 1967 in Oxnard, CA to Salvador P. Hernandez and Esther H. Hernandez.

Dennis graduated from Santa Clara High School in 1985. Following graduation he attended California State University Northridge. He then began a lengthy career with UPS in 1988 that lasted until 2015. He last worked in management for Hyundai Glovis in Port Hueneme, CA.

Along the way, Dennis made many, many friends. He kept in touch with colleagues he had worked with from his past, as well as the many friends from his life living near his beloved Ventura Beach. He loved the ocean and always felt so lucky to be able to live near it. He also had a very special bond with his high school buddies, who he affectionately called “My Boys,” typically sharing daily text messages with one another. He loved the L.A. Dodgers and attended many games with friends. He was a huge L.A. Rams fan, “Horns up,” as he would say.

At the ripe age of 6 years old, Dennis became an uncle to the first set of twins in the family. He had a total of 15 nieces and nephews, including 4 sets of twins, and 20 great nieces and nephews. They deeply loved him and will truly miss his fun and silly ways. And his stingray t-shirt.

Dennis was the youngest of the 8 Hernandez siblings. He was a “late in life” unexpected blessing to his parents and he was very much loved and spoiled by his older siblings. There are no words to describe how much we loved and will miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Esther Hernandez, his oldest sister Avie Guerra, his favorite sister Mary Momen-Safaii, his two nephews Robert Guerra and Camilo Guerra. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Salvador Hernandez (Susan) of Smith River, CA, David Hernandez (Anita) of Milford, KS, Linda Immordino (John) of Fairfield, CA, James Hernandez (Laura) of Ventura, CA, Rose Kemper Crowell (Quinn) of Bend, OR, brother-in-law, Lotfy Momen-Safaii of Oxnard, CA and many, many nieces and nephews from all over the place.

There are no services planned for Dennis at this time. Please feel free to raise a glass in his name or take a nice long walk on the beach in his memory.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Dennis’s name.
