<p>Janet M. &ldquo;Linda&rdquo; Carvalho, age 82, former longtime resident of Asbury Road in Lansing, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Monday, February 8. 2021 following an extended illness.</p> <p>A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 6th at 2:00pm via Zoom&nbsp; &nbsp;(I.D.: 871 0949 6864 and password: 030621).</p> <p>Linda was born in Danby on February 28, 1938, a daughter of the late Howard and Cecil (Barnes) Bernhardt. She was married to Lucian Carvalho on November 16,1957, and together they raised their family in the Lansing area. She began studying the Bible with Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses in the mid 60&rsquo;s and enjoyed finally getting her Bible questions answered. Soon her husband joined her. The couple dedicated their life to serving their loving Creator and were baptized as Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses June 30, 1967. Once her sons were older, she worked at Cornell University, and retired in 2000 as a purchasing agent at the General Stores. In addition to sharing the Good News from the Bible in the door-to-door ministry with her family and friends, she also enjoyed gardening. She was known to have many exotic hard-to-grow plants that flourished, making their yard look like a paradisiac garden, something she knew the earth would one day be under Christ&rsquo;s Kingdom rule. She and Lucian have been active in the Watkins Glen Congregation of Jehovah&rsquo;s Witnesses since moving to Interlaken a few years ago to be closer to her children.</p> <p>Linda is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lucian of Interlaken; her sons, Lewis (Tammy) of Lodi, John of Montour Falls; her grandchildren, Tricia of Seneca Falls, Jeffrey (Brianne) of Pennsylvania, Stacy (Alex) Shimin of Monroe, NY, and Thomas (Brittany) of Lodi; 8 great grandchildren; her siblings, Charles &ldquo;Buck&rdquo; (Donna) Bernhardt of Groton, Bill Bernhardt of Pennsylvania, Carol &ldquo;Kitty&rdquo; Bostick of Maryland, a sister in law, Ruth White of Buffalo and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four siblings; Albert Bernhardt, Jean Hunt, Harold &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; Bernhardt, and Dedee Miller.</p> <p>Family and friends look forward to seeing Linda again when Christ Jesus resurrects her back to a paradise earth and in perfect health - John 5:28,29!
