Gerald LeRoy Duhaime, 80, of Dakota Dunes, SD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Unity Point Hospital. Due to Covid, no services will be held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Gerald “Jerry” Duhaime was born on January 4, 1941, the son of Roy and Eleanora (Ritter) Duhaime in Woonsocket, SD. He grew up on a farm near Elk Point, SD. He graduated from Elk Point High School where he met the love of his life and future combine driver Sandra “Sandy” (Pace) Duhaime. The two were married in 1962. They made the rural Elk Point area their home. Jerry was committed to his family, community, Catholic church, and an avid Hawkeye fan. He was a farmer at heart. When checking the fields, he was often accompanied with his faithful canine companion, Cooper. He loved his family especially the grandchildren. Often times, he was the instructor for the grandkids' first lessons. These included driving, how to light fireworks, or any new tricks. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandy Duhaime of Dakota Dunes; his children, sons Brent (Melanie) Duhaime of Frisco, TX, Reid (KrisAnne) Duhaime of Jefferson, SD, and Ryan (Lynne) Duhaime of Dakota Dunes, SD; 10 grandchildren; sisters Barbara Chisholm of Rapid City, SD, Connie (Mert) Tice of Rapid City, SD; niece and several nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter Kari; parents Roy and Eleanora Duhaime, his brother-in-law and sister Bob and Jean Ann Gullikson; brother-in-law and sister Denny and Shirlee Rhead; brother-in-law Al Chisholm.
