Gail Icenhour Mathews, 84, of Hickory passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at her residence. She was born May 10, 1936 in Alexander County to the late Foye and Gertie Crouch Icenhour. Gail was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover and retired from the textile industry and Sentrol Security Systems in Hickory. She enjoyed cooking for her family, walking and loved working in her flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Phyllis I. Laney and Gilda I. Houston and niece, Tangela Laney Chapman. A service to celebrate Gail’s life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Kevin Graudin and Rev. Eric Hauss will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 2:45 p.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
