Elizabeth Countryman Williams Bloomfield, Connecticut Obituary

Elizabeth Countryman Williams

Elizabeth Countryman Williams (Lizzie) is the twelfth child born to Eunice Davis Countryman and Baurel Countryman on August 14, 1939 in Hartford, CT. She attended Hartford Public Schools graduating from Weaver High School with the class of 1957. Elizabeth, known to many as Lizzie, was the youngest girl of the Countryman Clan. Lizzie was employed at St. Francis Hospital for over 30 years where she retired in 2001. Lizzie held roles as a unit secretary, nurses’ aide and finished her career working in the cardiac ICU at the nurses station. Lizzie retired from St. Francis Hospital on August 1, 2001. Elizabeth lived an active lifestyle, loved to cook, travel and host people at her home. She is recognized for cooking for large events and cookouts with family and friends who enjoyed her smile and outgoing personality. You could find Lizzie playing bingo at the Bloomfield Senior Center often, traveling with friends and taking organized trips to the casino for dinner and entertainment. She was known for organizing frequent bus trips to clothing outlets in New York, Boston, Englishtown, NJ, and Virginia. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, a former member of the church’s nursing unit, which is totally in character with her reputation as a giving person. She loved to dress to impress but frequently wore T-shirts from different cities or universities, especially UCONN. She loved the UCONN women’s basketball team and watched whenever they were televised. Elizabeth met Curtis Williams and they married in 1959, ultimately divorcing twenty years later. Elizabeth leaves behind four children, Shari, Dwayne, Tammy and Derrick and four grandchildren, Nicole, Dion, Chenoa and Cameron. Lizzie worked very hard supporting her family and gave them all the love and nurturing that she had received from her parents. She has been duly rewarded by the success of her children and grandchildren in their educational pursuits and life. A long time resident of Bloomfield, CT, she also lived in Windsor, CT and spent her remaining years in Glastonbury, CT. Besides her children and grandchildren, Elizabeth leaves behind a brother, Robert Countryman of Bonita, CA and a host of nieces and nephews on the east and west coast. Preceding her in death are her parents, Baurel and Eunice Countryman and siblings: Raymond, Minnie, Eunice, Baurel Jr, John Richard, Clarence, Billy, Ruby, Irene, Clayvon and Wayne Countryman. To all who knew Elizabeth, she will be missed with her effervescent smile and laughter that could wake-up a room. GOD has added a beautiful spirit to the heavens. Social Distance adherence is mandatory with masks at all times, 6ft apart seating and there is an attendance limit for this service. Please view the “Going Home” service using the livestreaming link available on Lizzie's tribute wall to keep everyone safe.
