MARS HILL AND PORT CLINTON, OH - Harletta Mae Stewart, 81 of Port Clinton, Ohio peacefully went to be with the Lord February 1, 2021. Harletta was born March 20, 1939 in Mars Hill, Aroostook County, Maine. She graduated college from Ricker College in Houlton, Maine with a Bachelor Degree in Education, and then taught English at Aroostook Central Institute. During that time, she met the love of her life, Robert Lloyd Stewart, and the two married in 1963. After getting married, she taught 4th grade in Freeport, Ohio for a short time. She then taught English at Margaretta Jr High School in Castalia, Ohio until her retirement. Harletta had a passion for the arts. She directed plays at Aroostook Central Institute, Margaretta, and was an actress and director at Port Clinton Play Makers. She had many wonderful trips to Europe, Panama Canal, Canada and has visited all 50 States. She enjoyed over 25 years of retirement residing in Ohio, Maine and Arizona. She provided a wonderful home for her husband and daughter through the years. Harletta was an avid collector of giraffes, a huge fan of Larry Bird, Duke basketball and was the biggest fan of any sport her beloved grandchildren played when they were young. Those who knew her, know that she was the most thoughtful and giving person, and her love of the English language certainly showed in any card or letter she sent. Many of the recipients of her writings have said that she could have had her own greeting card company. She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph O and Eleanor C Estabrook, brother Frank C Estabrook, brother Ralph J Estabrook. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert Lloyd Stewart, daughter Dundee (Robert) Earle of Akron, Ohio, two grandchildren, Melanie Earle of Haiku, Hawaii and Kenneth Earle of Massillon, Ohio, sister Marla Raymond of Blaine, Maine, many nieces and nephews and many treasured friends. The family would like to thank Ohio Living Home Health Care and Ohio Living Hospice for all the special care they so lovingly provided during Harletta's final journey. Final resting place will be at Tapley Cemetery in Blaine, Aroostook County, Maine. Arrangements are being handled by Duncan-Graves Funeral Home 8 Main Street Mars Hill, Maine 04758. Pastor Mark Carter will be officiating graveside services which will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10 am at Tapley Cemetery.
