Brenda Lillian Williams a loving daughter, loving sister and faithful Christian was called to her heavenly home on February 7, 2021. Brenda was the third born of three children to the late Cecil Leroy Williams and Ethel Lee Williams.

Brenda was a member of Orangeburg’s Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she served as a lector.

Brenda began her early Christian training at Christ the King Catholic School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She received her early educational training from Wilkinson High School. Upon graduating, Brenda enrolled at South Carolina State College (currently South Carolina State University) and graduated in 1974 having earned a Bachelor Degree in Biology and Chemistry. She received her master’s degree in Hospital Administration from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia in 1976. She was a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a graduate of the Diversity Leadership Institute.

 Brenda served as an administrative resident at Washington Hospital in Washington, Pennsylvania, and as assistant director of the Palmetto Lowcountry Health Systems Agency in Summerville, where she was responsible for project review.

Brenda joined its staff in 1979, and served in various positions at RMC. At RMC, she was responsible for engineering, marketing, grant writing, switchboard, volunteers, telecommunications, laboratory, Joint commission review, planning, risk management, insurance, environment of care, environmental services, cardiology, and cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, Healthy Living Center, Vein Clinic, Vascular Center, Breast Health Center, Dialysis Access Institute, and Mabry Center for Cancer Care.

Brenda was also vice president of strategy and compliance at the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun counties. She retired on August 1, 2017, from a distinguished career in hospital administration at that institution spanning thirty-seven years. 

Brenda believed strongly in personal involvement with her community, and served in several capacities. These include service as a member of the Orangeburg,Calhoun, Allendale, Bamberg Community Action Agency Board (chair), Orangeburg and Calhoun Free Medical Clinic Board of Directors, and Regional Economic and Educational Community Development Corporation (vice president). Further, she was a founding member of the Orangeburg Family YMCA and a commissioner at Denmark Technical College. Formerly, she served as president of the local United Way, as vice president for community betterment of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, and as a school board trustee and member of the Orangeburg School District 5 Foundation Board.

In recognition of her dedicated service, Brenda received the Orangeburg Morning Rotary Club’s 2016 Rotarian of the Year award and the Palmetto Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association’s 2015 Spencer D. Disher award. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Orangeburg, NAACP, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and life member of South Carolina State University National Alumni Association where she was featured as a 2020 Stellar Alumni member.

 

The South Carolina Senate, congratulated Brenda, upon the occasion of her retirement, and commended her for many years of dedicated service, and wished much happiness and fulfillment.

 In addition to her parents, one brother preceded Brenda in death- Alfred Leroy Williams.

Those left to cherish fond memories of Brenda Lillian Williams are her most cherished, loving and supportive brother Cecil James and sister-in-law Barbara of Orangeburg, SC; Maudelle Salley Bing of Orangeburg, SC, a cousin who grew up as a sister-; a special cousin Deloris Evering of Orangeburg; SC and a host of loving cousins, and friends.

The service will proceed as follows:

A private funeral service for immediate family only will be held on Friday, February 12,2021 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church beginning at 11:00am. Service will be streamed live on our facebook page Glover's Funeral Home of Orangeburg.
