Bobbie Jean Hatchett Catledge Obituary

Beyond the gate your loved one finds happiness on the rest and there is comfort in thought that a loving God knows best. Rest in peace “Aunt Bob”. We all love you! On Monday, February 1, 2021 at 9:23 p.m. at the Baptist Calhoun Hospital in Calhoun City, MS, Sister Bobbie Jean Catledge went home to be with the Lord. She was born on February 23, 1935 in Chickasaw County, MS to the late M.H. and Frances Hatchett. She accepted Christ at the age of 12 years old and joined Second Baptist Church. She remained a member until her death. On January 10, 1953, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late William Glenn Catledge. To this union, seven (7) children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Earnest, two sisters, Jane Evans and Martha Lorainne, two brothers, Tom and Robert Lee, and one son-in-law, Donald Lee Tucker. She leaves to cherish fond memories: four daughters, Margie (Bernard) McPherson, Fredericksburg, VA; Barbara Tucker, Southaven, MS; Virginia (Larry) Wilson and Brenda French of Houston, MS; two sons, William E. Catledge and Terry Catledge both of Houston, MS; one loving and devoted sister, Mary Frances (James) Gunn, Houston, MS; one aunt, Oberia Lipsey, Pontotoc, MS; one sister-in-law, Margie Hatchett-Moy, Springfield, IL; nine grandchildren, Joy, Jr., Bill, Brandon, BJ, George, Jasmine, Jessica, and Carly, eleven great-grandchildren, one special great-great niece whom she called her nurse, Rea Rea, one special friend/cousin, Ada C. Buchanan, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. “Aunt Bob” as she was affectionately known by the Houston Community was a faithful, loyal, servant of God who had compassion and love for all. Aunt Bob had a special gift, and she used that gift generously touching the lives of so many children. She was a special caregiver to so many children spanning over thirty years before she retired. The lives of children she touched were better having crossed paths with Bobbie Jean Catledge. She was a special jewel. She will truly be missed.
