Lynn M. Granger passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, February 9th of Covid related complications. Lynn was born the first child of J.Armand and Anita Granger on April 8, 1946. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary’s Academy, Trinity College and received a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Vermont. Lynn began her teaching career in 1977 and taught for 28 years in Winooski, retiring in 2005. She loved educating, encouraging and mentoring children. After retiring from teaching, Lynn continued impacting children’s lives by her involvement as a founding member and Executive Director of Vermont Kin as Parents. In this role, she shared her story of kinship care and tirelessly advocated for family’s providing care, always keeping the children’s best interests as the priority. Lynn was valued for her knowledge, intelligence, compassion and empathy and consequently served on many legislative committees, boards, councils, and advisory groups as a spokesperson and advocate for kinship providers. Lynn was a strong, independent woman with deep faith which brought her comfort throughout her life. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and handled life’s struggles with grace and resilience. Though gentle in spirit, Lynn’s calm demeanor was shared with everyone she met. Lynn cherished time with family and friends, whether vacationing with family, visiting a friend, sharing a glass of wine, a phone call, a car ride, attending a play, eating out or watching a sunset together. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her generosity, compassion, kindness, knowledge, unwavering support and unconditional love is an inspiration to all who knew her. Lynn was predeceased by her parents and daughter, Sarah Howard. She is survived by her son, Mark Granger and his wife Justine, special grandson, Brian Granger and his fiancee, Justin Griffith, grandchildren Mikayla Murray, Brandon Granger, Alyssa Harvey, Hayley Granger and Nicholas Granger. She also leaves behind her sisters, Janine Paradee and Anne Devino, special brother-in-law, Jay Devino, brothers Donald Granger, John Granger and James Granger. Lynn also leaves her nieces and nephews, Melissa Farnham(Matt), Matthew Paradee(Jennifer), Allison Paradee, John Devino(Megan), Jaclyn Devino, special cousins Sean Erratt and Linda Grenier and a large circle of dear friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful staff at The Residence at Shelburne Bay. Due to COVID restrictions a celebration of Lynn’s life will take place at a later date.
