Beverly Marilyn Richter Obituary

Beverly Marilyn Richter, 90, of Susquehanna, Pennsylvania, formerly of Hyde Park, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Beverly was born in Poughkeepsie on April 1, 1925, the only child of the late George and Louisa Traudt Sheldon. She grew up in Poughkeepsie and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School in 1945. On September 12, 1948, Beverly married Wallace E. Richter, who predeceased her in December, 1992. They built their home and life in Hyde Park. Beverly was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed her many roles. She was an active member of the Hyde Park Dutch Reformed Church and worked on many church functions. Beverly loved her family and friends. She enjoyed going to lunch, a good game of cards, and quilting with her quilting group at the Hyde Park Library. Beverly made sure each of her grandchildren had a quilt made especially by her. Her pride was her grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. Later on in life, she became a great grandmother and truly loved seeing them. They always made her smile. In May, 2012, with her health starting to decline, Beverly moved to Pennsylvania and resided with her son, Stephen, and his wife, Patti. Left behind to cherish her memory are her two sons, Steve and his wife, Patti, of Pennsylvania, and Jeff and his wife, Cindy, of North Carolina; her grandchildren, Amanda (Ian) Schaff of Pennsylvania, Ginger (Christopher) Nixon of North Carolina, Keith (Bethany) Richter of North Carolina, and Joshua Richter of New York. Beverly also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Julian Puskarich, Ada Grace Schaff, and Eleanor and Everett Nixon. She was expecting a fifth great-grandchild in September, with whom we will share her legacy. The family would like to warmly thank Forest City Nursing Home and the Pennsylvania Office of the Aging, for their continuous support and care of Beverly during her last year. Visitation will be from 11 am to 12 Noon, Friday, January 29th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon at the Funeral Home. Rev. Thom Fiet will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park. The Richter family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Reformed Dutch Church of Hyde Park, 4408 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, New York 12538.
