Glen was born in Garland City, Arkansas.  Growing up Glen’s father worked the railroad and they lived in many section houses.  Glen graduated from Bloomfield High School, Mo. in 1950.  Glen joined the Navy in 1952 and was in service during the Korean War.  In 1956 Glen met the love of his life and were married within a few months and happily raised a family and showed that true love exists for 64 years.  Glen started working on TV’s in the 50’s and soon moved into a new industry, computers.  The computer industry (through many name changes) moved the Leirer family around the Southeast stopping in Birmingham, AL for a while.  Glen’s children became involved in motorcycle racing and Glen decided to buy a Honda business in Sylacauga, AL and run it as a family business all while continuing to work in the computer industry.  A few years later the family added a Radio Shack franchise and expanded into a larger location.  After more than 19 years with the family business Glen and Alice retired to Panama City Beach, FL where they became involved in many volunteer organizations including; Habitat for Humanity, Red Cross, Warrior Beach Retreat, Bay County Republican Party, Military Welcome Center and just about any worthy cause he was ask to help with.  Shortly after retirement Glen and Alice would travel the country RVing and travel through 49 states and most of Canada.  Glen would take time to play golf with many great friends and more recently he restored a 1955 Buick Special like the one he had when he met Alice.

Glen and Alice lived full, happy, exciting lives full of love of God, family and friends.  Anyone that met Glen and Alice were friends for life.  Glen will be missed, but his legacy will live on in the spirit he inspired in so many.
