Patricia Pearl Green Obituary

On February 3rd, 2021, the world lost another of the greatest generation- Patricia Pearl Green of Fair Oaks, California.

She was born an only child in 1925 to Charles White and Hester Sheppard White in Cardiff, Wales. Her mother died from TB when she was 10 years old. She was raised by her father and later a step-mother, Margaret White in the Barry and Canton Cardiff areas.

World War II had a big influence on her life. At 15, she was caught in the open on Llandaff fields when German bombs started falling. It was during those air raids that the nearby medieval LLandaff Cathedral was hit and severely damaged..

In 1943, she became a member of the British Land Army and was stationed in Hereford, England where she met an American Army soldier- Don Nys. They married in April, 1945, just before the end of the war in Europe. She kept in touch with the other “Land Girls” throughout her life.

On February 22, 1946 she departed the United Kingdom for New York along with 476 other British war brides on the SS Argentina and then by train to her new home in Green Bay, Wisconsin where her first son, Jim, was born in 1948

She and Don divorced in 1950.

In 1954, she moved to Billings, MT where her husband George Green was one of the first announcers on the new medium of television. In Billings, sons Bradley and Brian were born.

1966 she moved to the Sacramento, California area where she worked in furniture sales and lived the remainder of her life.

Her favorite pastimes included playing bridge and painting- especially landscapes and Welsh cottages.

Her father, Charles, died in 1994 at age 91, she survived until age 95 and 1/2.

She is survived by sons Jim (Nancy) Nys of Choteau, Mt, Bradley Green of Huntington Beach, CA and Brian (Sandy) Green of Placerville, Ca.

Grandchildren include Mike (Allison) Nys of Corvallis, Mt; Brittany Loree of Placerville, CA; Brooke Loree of Hilo, HI; Robbie (Carrie) Green of Sacramento, Ca and Rebecca (Bob) Kelly of Billings, Mt; Michelle Jones of Kalispell, Mt; Mike (Shannon) Hausler of Clancy, Mt and Jenna Grubb of Great Falls, Mt; 14 Great Grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She has numerous cousins and other extended family in Wales and England whom she especially enjoyed visiting.

Cremation has occurred. Due to Covid travel restrictions, a memorial service will be held at Llandaff Cathedral, Wales at a later date.

Truly, a life well lived.
