Robert Lester McCullough Cumberland, Maryland Obituary

Robert Lester McCullough

Robert Lester McCullough, 62, known to those who knew him as “Bob,” went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2021, while surrounded by family. Born on September 13, 1958 in El Paso, Texas, he was the son of the late Robert D. McCullough and Charlotte Harvey McCullough. He was a graduate of Bishop Walsh High School, where he met his wife and soulmate, Debbie, and together started a family a short time later. Bob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; maternal grandmother, Ramona Davis; his father, Robert D. McCullough; and his in laws, Andrew and Sue Snyder. He leaves behind many family and friends who he adored and who adored him. Surviving are his wife and best friend of 44 years, Debbie McCullough; three children, Amy Layton and spouse Robbie of Ft Ashby; son Jason McCullough of Ft Ashby; son Michael McCullough and significant other Ashley James of Ridgeley, WV; sister Lisa Castleman and spouse Nathan of Cumberland; and brother Jeff McCullough and spouse Lori of Mt Savage, MD. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, whom he adored and supported in each and every endeavor; Terrell Meade and fiancée Megan Seib, Keyton Meade, Cameren Layton, Gavin Layton, Carter Layton, Greysen McCullough, and Adalyn McCullough; as well as two great grandchildren, Kyleigh Meade and Jase Meade. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members who he loved dearly. And let us not forget the numerous shop buddies he would spend countless hours with each and every day talking guns, politics, or any other topic that came up. As many know, Bob was the proud owner of Bob's Guns and Bows in Ridgeley, WV. After retiring from Potomac Edison as a lineman, he spent his days helping the community as a small business owner. Bob never met a stranger and was well known and well liked for his caring personality and his drive for perfection in everything he did. In the evenings and on weekends, he focused on family and on things he enjoyed, especially anything outdoors and sporting events. The entire community knew when Bob was in the stands at a Falcon football game cheering on his two sons, Jason and Michael, and most recently his grandsons by loudly and repeatedly yelling, “Let’s go blue!” Bob had no qualms with speaking up and ensuring others were treated fairly and with respect. Bob’s plans before the Lord called him home were to finally retire, and enjoy bird hunting, golfing, and family time each and every day. He enjoyed trips to Colorado, where he would go Elk hunting with his brother, Jeff, and several of his closest buddies in hopes of bringing back the perfect set of antlers. As a man of Catholic faith, we can find comfort in knowing that Bob is resting peacefully on the highest mountain of all, in the most beautiful place imaginable, seated at the right hand of the Father. He will forever be our guardian angel, a job he won’t take lightly. The family has elected to hold a private service at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A. in Cumberland, MD. The service will be live streamed on their website for anyone who would like to honor or pay respects to a wonderful man gone way too soon. The livestream will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2021 at: www.ScarpelliFH.com Livestream: <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/511639605?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen title="Robert McCullough Funeral Service"></iframe> Download Link: https://vimeo.com/alleganymedia/download/511639605/59cc51deba Memorial Video: <iframe class="ts_player" allowfullscreen="true" allowtransparency="true" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" frameborder="0" height="330" scrolling="no" src="https://www.tributeslides.com/videos/embedded_video/G4KZKN5PGQ488824" width="512"></iframe>
