Casaline Lewis -Bey entered this life's journey July 12, 1943. Casaline left this life to join the master on February 1, 2021.

Casaline was the daughter of the late Henry Joseph and Lillie Mae Carlton. She was the oldest of 16 children. After the passing of her parents she became the matriarch of the family. Casaline was named after her aunt Casaline Smith who was a strong influence in her life.

Casaline was the mother of three children Anne, John, (who preceded her in death) and Terrell. They were the most important part of her life. She was a single mom but she never wavered in giving her children the best that she had to offer and love being the most important. Casaline reared them with certain characteristics that she felt would sustain them in life loving God, having manners and using them always, and treating others the way you wanted to be treated.

Casaline was educated in Baltimore city public schools. She worked numerous jobs while raising her children. She worked as a cook, and domestic employee, but the one that she loved more than any was her job as a nurses aide. Through this occupation she was able to use daily those attributes that made her who she was, kindness, compassion for others, and her love for God. These characteristics showed up in how she cared for her patients.

Casaline was very proud when both of her older children seeked employment in the health field often reminiscing about how her different experiences in that field had shaped her life.

The knowledge that she passed onto her children helped them take care of each other during health issues and ultimately take care of her during her illness.

Terrell her baby was a joy to her and she was a constant caregiver to her when she came home from the nursing facility during her lengthy illness.

She was called by many endearments Edie by her siblings, Mama by many, Granny, and Ya-Ya by her great grand children, Granny D by her grandson in-law, and she answered them all with love and affection.

Casaline was a steadfast presence in her family always there for her parents, her siblings and her children. She would give advice when needed, always steering siblings, nieces and nephews in the right direction. She was stern but always loving. When you went to the hospital she was there, you had an emergency she was there. Celebrating highlights in your life she was there, needed a shoulder to lean on she was there, needed a place to stay she was there. Hugs were a must, you never left her presence without giving a hug she would say" give me my hug and kiss". Casaline gave her life to Christ at an early age. Her childrens fondest memories is of her cooking and singing God's praises in the kitchen. Even though there were some hard times she let them know she put God first.

In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, card games with girlfriends and always family time. Casaline was an excellent cook taught by her mother and Aunt Kay. She loved cooking and sharing recipes with her children and family. Casaline never believed in saying goodbye she would always say So Long. She also found a passion for modeling through helping her son John with his Fashion troop Ultra Essence. These times brought her so much joy and she gained many surrogate children during this time

She rededicated her life to Christ in the 1990's where she joined the Gethsemane Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor John R. Scott Jr. Casaline attended regularly until her illness.

During her lengthy illness her faith never wavered, whenever she was able she attended Fellowship Baptist Church in recent years under the leadership of Pastor Michael Thornton Sr.

When asked how she was doing during these times her answer would be BLESSED BY THE BEST always bringing a smile to someone who heard her answer.

She leaves to miss dearly her presence: two devoted daughters Anne Bolger, Terrell Lewis-Bey Tammy Lewis Bey (daughter in law) Dana Chapman (daughter from another mother); siblings, Leroy Carlton, Terry Carlton, Elouise Carlton-Wragg, (Kevin Wragg) brother in law, Fannie Carlton, Wayne Carlton, Arthur Carlton Dianna Carlton (sister in law), Gary Carlton, Robert Carlton, Karen Carlton, Darlene Carlton; grandchildren, Lakesha Diggs (Kelvin Diggs), Alan Bolger, Julius Bolger, Antornette Culp Donta Culp -(preceded her in death), Roderick Owens, Tyesha Lewis-Bey (Darnell Lambirth), Tierre Killion, Lamont Swain; great-grandchildren Anthony, Shermia, Kaniya, Khairon, Kaleigh, Ashly, Thomas, Ariah, Alan Jr., Arion'e, Brock, Allure, Corey, Kenjul, Saniya, Darius, Emmanuel, Nalani, Ty'ien, Martel, Dilyn, Lo'real, Zy'Aire, X'Ziyah, True, Lamont, and Harmony; great great grand-children Mason (preceded in death) Messiah, Azai, Corey Jr., Alani and Ra'lynn and a host of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and many many friends who affectionately called her Mama.
