Richard Gingerich

Richard Gingerich passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at his home in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 72. He was born on September 8, 1948 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Dorothy and Harley Gingerich. Following graduation from high school, Richard joined the United States Marines Corps. Following his discharge from the Marines, Richard joined and later retired from the US Army Reserves. He was also employed in the aircraft industry at Ametek PDS in Wichita, Kansas where he built DC motors for many years. In 1969, he and Brenda (Benedict) Gingerich were united in marriage and started their family in Kansas. The couple had four children: Michael, Richard, Jr., Dana and Jason. Richard enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. When he was back inside, Richard enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and reading. He was a loving father and grandfather that will be missed by his family. Survivors include his son, Michael Gingerich of Norton, Kansas; daughter, Dana Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas; son, Jason Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas, grandchildren: Tremain Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas, Robert Gingerich of Wichita, Kansas, Brandy Galvan of Wichita, Kansas, Kristina Gingerich of Wichita, Kansas, Machella Throckmorton of Wichita, Kansas, Nathan Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas, Jason Gingerich, Jr. of Wellington, Kansas and Jasmine Gingerich of Wellington, Kansas and a sister, Debra Kreinbring of Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; son, Richard Gingerich, Jr. and brothers: Michael, Kevin and Dave Gingerich. Memorial Services for Richard will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 12, 2021 in the chapel of Cornejo Funeral Home, Wellington, Kansas. If attending, please plan to wear a facemask and social distance when possible. Memorial donations may be given in his memory to the Avenue of Flags or Disabled American Veterans.
