Jean Ayer

Mrs. Jean Ayer passed away at Carolina Meadows in Chapel Hill on February 1, 2021 at the age of 98. She was born on December 27, 1922 in Elizabeth, NJ to Harry and Harriet Muchemore. She married Franklin A. Ayer in 1945. Jean was a registered nurse and worked at UNC Memorial Hospital as an oncology nurse. She was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society where she was the Orange chapter Volunteer of the Year in 1988. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling and golf. Jean was predeceased by her parents, husband and siblings (Kay, Francis and John). She is survived by her children Ross D. Ayer (Lucie) of Valrico, FL, Mark L. Ayer of High Point, and Bruce F. Ayer (Cindy) of Bahama, her grandchildren Vanessa Miller (Mark), Michael Ayer (Rose), Lauren Hill (Dan) and Anthony Ayer (Rachel) and 3 great grandchildren Zach and Isaac Miller and Nikolai Ayer. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or University UMC. Walker’s Funeral Home in Chapel Hill is assisting the family.
