Fred Christian Bruhn, 74, of Waterloo and previously from Janesville, Waverly, and Hazelton, Iowa passed away on Monday night, February 1, 2021, at UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.  Fred was born on April 22, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Emma (Mayse) and Clarence O. Bruhn. He attended school and graduated from Janesville High School. Fred served in the United States Navy from January 6, 1967 until his honorable discharge on August 31, 1972. Fred worked beside his Dad at their family business, Bruhn Sharp All, sharpening things such as chain saws, saw blades and knives. He was self employed with various different jobs including refilling fire extinguishers and worked for the Amish communities near Hazelton and Independence. He provided them transportation and assistance with their draft horses.  In years past, Fred was a volunteer member of the Janesville Fire Department and a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Waterloo. For enjoyment, he attended the horse sales in Waverly and the surrounding communities. He liked to watch TV; westerns and horse shows were among his favorites. He also really liked animals, especially cats and dogs.  According to his wishes, Fred’s body has been cremated and there will be no services at this time.
