Michael C. Brown, SSG U.S. Army

Michael Charles Brown, SSG U.S. Army, 37, of Killeen, TX, stationed at Fort Hood, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021. He was born in La Crosse, WI, on April 15, 1983 to Charles and Donna (Karsten) Brown. He graduated from Onalaska High School class of 2001 and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served two tours in Iraq and was months away from his 20-year retirement at the time of his death. Michael married Brooke Lukassen in 2004 and had two daughters. He married Jennifer Inman in 2017. Michael was very outgoing and had a sense of humor that always made people laugh. He loved music and taught himself to play guitar and piano. He performed in several OHS plays and musicals, sang in the Express and Hilltopper Show Choirs, and played football.  While serving, he was awarded The Order of Saint George Medallion, which is the top award given to members of the U.S. Army's mounted force by the United States Armor Association. He was always ready to help others and continued that to the end as an organ donor. He was loved by family, friends, and his fellow soldiers. Michael is survived by his daughters, Brenna and Layla Brown; his mother, Donna; a sister, Sarah (Brown) Richmond; and a half brother, Cliff Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and half sister, Geraldine (Brown) Lewis. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main Street, Onalaska. Michael will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Grandview Cemetery, Austin, Minnesota. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.dickinsonfuneralhome.com
