On February 1, 2021, John Robert Cockrell passed away peacefully, at 59 years old, in Midland, Michigan surrounded by his children. He was born on August 11, 1961 in Harvey, Illinois and spent much of his life as a carpenter. John was a loving grandfather who spent a lot of time with his five wonderful grandchildren: Aidan, Bentley, Layne Cockrell (parents, Brandon and Destiny Cockrell), Zly and Zandon Wright (parents, Robin Cockrell and Zane Wright). He also loved listening to country music, woodworking projects, and studying the Bible in his spare time. John is survived by his children: Melissa Cockrell, Robert and Megan Cockrell, Brandon and Destiny Cockrell, and Robin Cockrell; step-mother, Linda Cockrell; brother, Jason (Karen) Cockrell, sisters, Judy Mullin and Denise Hurzt. He is preceded in death by parents Robert and Myrtle Cockrell. His children have decided on a cremation, with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the grandchildren in his name.
