Herbert Alexis Celis Garbay Obituary

Herbert is preceded in death by his father, Hector Miguel Celis Nava, by his niece Chelsea Nicole DePauw, and his nephew Guy Leon DePauw Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Beatriz Celis Garbay, his sister; Patricia Celis, his brothers; Hector Celis and Giovanni Celis, Sister-in-Law Jesenia Celis, his nephews; Giovanni Celis Jr., Hector Celis Jr., Caleb Diaz and Patrick Diaz, and by his nieces; Valeria Celis, Chelsea Celis, Bianca Celis, Gianna Celis, Hannah Celis, and Isabella Haleski.

Herbert graduated from Miguel Grau High School in 1997 in Callao, Peru and from IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors) in 2011 as an Electrician.

Herbert was a man of deep faith and loved God with all his heart. He was a very active member in his church since his youth. As a devoted Catholic he was a member of The Knights of Columbus, served as a Catechist, spent many years in night prayer in the presence of The All Mighty, was Usher Minister for 10 years and he loved being a drummer in El Pescador choir. He was also an active member of The Brotherhood of Saint Martin of Porres, serving and helping the elders and orphans.

His hobbies included spending time with his family at the dinner table on weekends and taking frequent family vacations which were a must for him, especially for his birthday. To him, family was everything and his love for his mother was like no other son has ever shown, he spent all his time with her. At the same time, he loved and adored his 12 nieces and nephews as his own children making him more than an uncle to them, but instead taking them in like his own children. He loved farm life, fishing, the beach and traveling abroad, especially to Peru to see his family.

He was a very dedicated, responsible, and hardworking employee who loved his profession and the company he worked for, All-State Electrical. To him, it was more than a job. Herbert took much ownership and pride at work and duties given to him.

Herbert Alexis Celis Garbay was a great man of God, the best son, a great brother, an awesome uncle, and a loyal friend. His legacy will live on inside all of us: his love for his family and fellow friend. His servanthood heart to the needy was a great example to us all.

Let there be no doubt that Herbert Celis will be greatly missed by anyone and everyone who has been around him.

May he always be in our hearts and memory. Rest in Peace Herbert Alexis Celis Garbay.
